Thanks to the efforts of CCGS Board members, Kate McGinn and Carol Leitch, the Board of Directors of the Christ Church Guilford Society, Inc., mounted an exhibit in the window of the Brattleboro Regional Chamber of Commerce (BRCC) on Main Street.
We hope visitors, residents and passers-by were able to see it the week of October 19th.
This may well be one of the final window exhibits at the Chamber – or at least at this location: the Chamber has listed this property for sale. According to a recent press release, Chamber staff and Board members “feel strongly that owning and maintaining a building is no longer the best use of our members’ resources.” With the sale of 178-180 Main Street, the Chamber plans to redirect energy and dues revenue more “into programming, advocacy, and community presence: visiting member businesses, showing up at events, and connecting with towns across the region, rather than being tied to one location.”
Rachel Shields Ebersole, the new Executive Director of the BRCC, also recently announced that the BRCC is considering a merger with the Great Falls Regional Chamber of Commerce in Bellows Falls. This is generally being looked on favorably by business leaders in both areas. As Ebersole pointed out, “people in Bellows Falls and Rockingham have customers in Brattleboro. And people in Brattleboro serve customers in northern Windham County, as well. So creating more opportunity for those connections and collaborations across towns makes for a strong business community.”
Stay tuned!
