Dear Friend:
As a leader of a business or organization in the greater Brattleboro area, you are aware of our rich history. Christ Church Guilford is an integral part of that history. We are writing to you to let you know what we on the Board of Directors are up to and what is going on with our beautiful building.
The Board of Directors of the Christ Church Guilford Society, Inc., has been hard at work over the past year to assess the condition of the building and to discern a new, revived mission for it and its property. We are a dedicated group of volunteers that has created a new website with the help of local company MuseArts, expanded the historical perspective to include the Abenaki heritage of the land on which we sit, and strengthened our relationship with other organizations in our region.
We have recently discovered that there are urgent structural repairs needed to the roof of our beloved historic building. For safety reasons, these repairs need to be undertaken before we can resume hosting indoor public events. Stevens and Associates, P.C., of Brattleboro has conducted a comprehensive structural assessment of the roof framing and has determined that stabilizing failed tie-beam connections is the first step. Subsequent vital projects will include evaluating the plaster ceiling, replacing the roof ridge cap, and repairing the eaves.
To do this work, we are seeking grants, but we would also love financial help from community members and those who love Christ Church!
